Liberty of London Kensington Silk Crepe de Chine - Frederick C
Silk crepe de chine is a versatile favourite, with a soft handle and a natural lustre. Its surface has a hint of matte roughness, making it one of the easiest silks to sew – luxe yet laidback, it’s perfect for daytime designs as well as eveningwear.
Frederick is a geometric design, inspired by the bright florals of the Andes Mountains and hand-drawn in the Liberty Fabrics studio in fine liner pen. Its multi-directional floral shapes are obscured beneath a camouflaging canopy of overlapping colour. Crepe de chine is one of the best silk bases for daytime wear – it’s effortlessly luxe, with a lightweight drape that’s made more durable by its matte, slightly rough surface. Try using crepe de chine to create a louche effect with wide-leg trousers and loosely tailored shirts, or with fluted sleeves and ruffled accents for a romantic feel.
Liberty Fabrics’ English Eccentrics collection for Spring/Summer 2019 draws inspiration from seven eclectic home-grown muses, spanning across a range of creative genres and historical periods. From a decadent prince regent to a pioneering botanist, an aristocratic poet and gardener, a carefree ‘60s musician, a contemporary artist, an activist-slash-actress and a beloved children’s author, our diverse collection of muses each reflect the adventurous and disruptive spirit of Liberty.
