These stylised blossom flowers drawn in fine outlines are inspired by the richly decorated fabrics created by E.W. Godwin, who headed Liberty’s costume department in the 1880s. Godwin is part of the Cast act of Retold, bringing into the spotlight this play’s cast of architects, writers, artists, and designers have paved the way for the artistic movements Liberty have heralded since our doors first opened - leading figures that have played an integral part in weaving new narratives into the fabric of the building.

For Spring Summer 2025, you are cordially invited to join Liberty Fabrics as we raise the curtain on Retold, a 150-year anniversary theatrical spectacular. Divided into four acts - The Stage, The Cast, The Audience, The Next Act – this collection goes behind scenes of the iconic Tudor building and into the eclectic emporium where our story is retold. Crafted from two timber ships, the Liberty flagship forms the perfect stage to welcome this play’s cast of influential characters who have paved the way for an array of artistic movements. Dressed to entice and delight its viewers, from music legends and models to writers and actors, Liberty’s customers are our most inspiring muse. Whoever steps through the elaborate façade is taken on an extraordinary journey of magic, mystery, and charm. Finally, as we move onto the next act, a new generation of designers begin to experiment with the boundaries of technology and art.

Printing takes place at the Liberty mill in northern Italy, which uses both innovative digital technology and age-old techniques. From signature, obsessively fine-tuned Tana Lawn™ cotton and luxurious silk to lightweight linen and sustainable bases, Liberty fabrics are brilliant canvases for bespoke creations of all kinds, offering brands and garments an authority on quality and style. 

Since 1875, Liberty has paved the way for a movement dedicated to discovery, animated by arts, culture, and iconic product design. In the spirit of its founder, Arthur Lasenby Liberty, Liberty remains unapologetically eccentric and committed to bringing good design to all.
