Upcoming Class : French Cartonnage Notepad Holder

We’ve got a new class coming up!!!

Saturday, December 7, which coincides with the ArtWalk in Little Italy, we will once again host Betsy Begue as she instructs us in the beautiful art of French Cartonnage! In the last class we made needlecases, and this one will be holders for small notepads! Until I can give you more information about the next class (and sample photos!), here are some photos from the needlecase class.

This is Betsy in the foreground. What an amazing teacher! She’s been practicing cartonnage and teaching for a long time now, and she’s very enthusiastic about what she does, and also with what her students do.

Most of the materials were already prepared for the class, and we chose fabrics and papers from the selection she provided. Yeah, I took the class! I love these needlecases!

Betsy is very encouraging, informative, and especially helpful. And look at all the supplies she had — most of them were from France, too.

Here are the finished products! Some of these ended up as gifts, which is such a nice thought! I think a lot of people appreciate small handmade gifts like this, especially when it’s well-crafted like these! Can you believe none of these students had done this before?

I’m so excited for the notepad holders! Maybe I can give it as a gift… to myself.

How to Look Good with a Date

Or, how to look cheesy with a date? Nah. A couple weeks ago I went to my friend’s wedding, and I made a Deer & Doe Sureau dress out of a Liberty print (which I still need to blog about!). And I...
