Daruma Kogin Cloth
This cloth is 100% linen for creating your own kogin design. Kogin fabric is an open weave making it easy to see the holes; however, unlike an even weave for cross stitching, traditional kogin fabric is slightly longer in the vertical direction. Packaging includes instructions in Japanese and English showing how traditional kogin stitching is done and how to create a repeated pattern.
Kogin is a type of sashiko stitching originating in northern Japan. This is a technique of stitching against vertical weave with cotton thread to make attractive geometric patterns and was born from the need to make clothing fabric thicker and warmer.
Use thick kogin thread (20/8) found here for making beautiful thick stitches.
