Article: Violette Fields Ginger Sundress

Violette Fields Ginger Sundress

I can see why so many people love to sew for kids! I think I spent more time deciding on fabric than on actually constructing this dress! And you don’t have to finagle with fit very much, so that’s a huge plus.

We have a relatively new dressform, but not many pieces that fit her. But now she looks adorable!

This pattern is the Violette Fields Ginger Dress, which we sell here in the store. It can be shortened into a top, and comes with a variety of optional embellishments, like pockets and ruffles. The fabric is an organic cotton by birch, called Sand Play, combined with polka dots in “shroom.” I don’t know who comes up with some of these color names…

The dress is halter-style, with two rows of elastic to fit it to the body. I love this, I want to make one for me! Same fabric and everything!

I anchored down the side flaps with the perfect buttons, right?! Right!
