Thank you so much to everyone who has made our first year a wonderful success! This was a scary adventure…starting a retail business in the middle of a recession, but how rewarding and fun it has been! I hope this is true for you as well – to finally be able to find unusual fabric, patterns and ribbon in Cleveland, of all places!
We are exited to carry some beautiful new ribbon from Renaissance for the holidays. We would be happy to custom make a stunning bow like this one for your front door. I know this post is a little late for this year, but we have many ribbon choices that can make the transition from holiday to spring.
We have lots of exciting plans for the coming year. First off, we will be showcasing all of our ideas for weddings at Cleveland Magazine’s bridal show at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven on January 29. This means we are getting in some fabulous new fabric and trims for flower girl and bridesmaids dresses, trims for hair pieces (clips and hair bands) as well as ribbons for adorning invitations, centerpieces, and table settings, among other things. So if Santa-baby gives you a ring (I don’t mean on the phone), stop in the shop or come to the show to see all of our new goodies!
Here’s a photo of a beautiful flower girl (dress) and a ring-bearer with a matching bow tie. OK – these are my kids at my niece’s wedding this past summer! This is just some of the stuff we can do!
In fact, even her bridesmaid dresses were made with our fabric from Moda!
In other New Year’s news…
We’re getting our first knits into the shop! Promised in January, but I will let you know, are 5 or 6 bolts (I forget exactly what I ordered!!) of Hilco Campan cotton knits from Germany in some great stripes! These will be perfect for playdate dresses, leggings, and pullovers!
And, as I write, I’m waiting for the DHL delivery man to knock on my door with a mixture of 10 new and classic print lawns from Liberty. What a nice Christmas present that would be if they arrived today or tomorrow!
In addition, the new Colette patterns have arrived, and they are so awesome! They definitely have a retro feel to them, but the fit promises to be perfection. We are planning on doing one up in a fun fabric as a bridesmaid dress for a casual summer wedding.
Lots of fun things and ideas for the coming year! And hopefully we’ll find some space to have birthday parties, sewing salons and other things with more of a social twist.
Finally, my new year’s resolution is to Commit to Create.
It’s so easy (like right now for me!!) to get caught up in computer STUFF! While at times it may be necessary and, at times it may even be inspiring, it’s so easy to get sucked in to this world. I get up early thinking I’m going to get fabulous things made before the kids wake up, and here I’ve spent 2 hours playing in iPhoto, surfing the internet and writing this blog post. So for whoever is reading this, you may want to join me in my new crusade to Commit to Create. Set aside a space that is just for you, just for your creative endeavors, and make it happen. Why? Because it’s so therapeutic for us to use our hands and brains and passions to make our world a more beautiful place.
So…Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! and Happy New Year from Bolt & Spool! : )
